Driver Records (DMV)
You or any person you authorize to obtain a copy of
your driver record (also called a motor vehicle record or MVR)
may do so by mail or in person at the Tennessee Department of Safety,
1150 Foster Avenue,
Nashville, TN 37210.
office hours are 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Central Time.
You must furnish the name, date of birth,
and driver license number.
There is a $5.00 charge for a copy of a three-year
driver record. A cashieržs check or money order should
be made payable to the Tennessee Department of Safety.
If mailing, allow two (2) weeks from mailing date of request
to receive the driver record. If you placed a block on your
record through the Driver Privacy Act, and you are authorizing
someone else to obtain a copy of the record for you, you will
need to submit a notarized statement allowing them to obtain the
record. There are several local Department of Safety offices
in Tennessee where you can obtain the record in person.
